Damon System Thanks to today’s technology, patients experience less discomfort, shorter treatment times and superior results. The Damon system uses nearly frictionless attachments and "NASA age" arch wires to make each visit more efficient.
For years, orthodontic appliances have contributed to dental health, excellent function and exceptional smiles. Today, modern technology has created an enhanced treatment system that is more comfortable and often less time consuming.
In our office, we use the Damon Philosophy as our treatment routine. The Damon bracket (the part that attaches to the tooth) is a "self-ligating" bracket, which has small sliding doors to hold the arch wire in place. Self-ligating means that we do not use colored rings or wire ties to attach the arch wires to the tooth as other "conventional" braces.
By allowing the wire to move in the bracket without any ties, the reduced friction between the wires and brackets, enables tooth movement with lower forces (lighter arch wires) and biologically optimal change. By using light arch wires, lower forces and efficient brackets, our patients have less discomfort, fewer visits and reduced treatment time.
